NSRP Information for student nurses

Pamphlet screenshotIn support of health care service provision in NSW rural areas, RDN and the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) have partnered to deliver the Nurse Student Rural Placement (NSRP) Project.

By participating in this project, nursing students will be provided with the opportunity to undertake high quality placements in a range of primary health care settings. This may include General Practice, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Services, residential aged-care facilities, community health, school health services and more.

Learning in a small ratio environment (usually 1:1) and under the supervision of an experienced Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner, student nurses have the opportunity to master their clinical skills and acquire professional competencies specific to the role of a primary health care nurse.

Are you interested in a rural primary health care nursing placement?

If you are interested in a rural primary health care nursing placement as part of the Nurse Student Rural Placement (NSRP) Project, please first speak to your education provider. As this placement forms part of your mandatory clinical placement hours, RDN-APNA would need to be contracted with your education provider prior to providing you with a rural primary health care placement as part of this project.

For more information or support in seeking advice on rural health pathways, please call the NSRP Project Team on 02 4924 8000 or email nursingplacements@nswrdn.com.au.
