GP and RDN workshop participant: “Best workshop I have ever attended”
2nd October 2024
In September, GPs and nurses from across NSW came together at Coffs Harbour on the NSW North Coast for RDN’s Skin Cancer Diagnosis in Rural Settings Workshop which was supported by Healthy North Coast Primary Health Network (HNC PHN).
The Workshop was designed to address the unique challenges faced by rural healthcare providers in diagnosing and managing skin cancer and combined traditional techniques with cutting-edge digital tools to enhance the workshop participants’ ability to provide timely and accurate care to patients.
Dermatologist and CEO of Dermscreen, Dr Philip Tong was one of the Workshop facilitators and, amongst other things, spoke about Dermscreen’s digital technology platform DermAssist, which can be used to support in the diagnosis of skin cancers. He was joined by Dr Tim Peacock from First Light Healthcare, Ballina and Professor Jim Muir, Dermatologist and Founder of ACRRMs Tele-Derm.
Dr Clem Gordon travelled from Warialda to participate in the Workshop and, when asked to reflect on the day, told RDN it was the “best workshop I have ever attended - interesting, informative, great presenters.” He also added that it was “Excellent” and “ should be for all rural, isolated GPs”.
For those interested in taking part in the future, RDN has plans to host the workshop again in another NSW location in early 2025, so be sure to watch this space for more information.
