Register for the Medical Student Rural Inspiration Conference | Rural Health Month event
2nd October 2024
The Medical Student Rural Inspiration Conference will be held on Saturday 30 November at the Manly Pacific Hotel in Sydney as part of Rural Health Month.
Proudly sponsored and made possible thanks to Australia's largest professional general practice organisation, The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), this one-of-a-kind event has been designed specifically for medical students with an interest in rural medicine.
Program for the event:
Join us for an engaging student program featuring a variety of enriching sessions and activities designed to inspire and inform, including:
- A keynote address from Dr. Marian Dover on “Breaking Stereotypes: My journey so far in rural medicine”
- Join Dr. Shannon Nott, Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia Chief Medical Officer, and his colleagues for an engaging simulation session.
- Explore the importance of cultural awareness in rural health and how it impacts patient experiences
- Join a panel of regional junior doctors who will share their insights and experiences on thriving and surviving as a JMO in a regional location
- Hear from Dr. Ariah Steel for a discussion on Untangling Rural Generalism with perspectives from a GP Obstetrician, a GP with Forensic and Surgical Skills, and a GP Anaesthetist
- Navigate regional specialty training pathways with Dr. Eleanor Warwick (Anaesthetic Registrar), Dr. Tau Loseli (Orthopaedic Surgeon), and Dr. Matt Wilson (Ophthalmology Registrar)
Throughout the day, students will have invaluable opportunities to connect and network with conference delegates, sponsors, and GPs attending the co-located Rural GPs Conference, culminating in a closing session and evening with students’ attendance at the Conference dinner sponsored by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
