RDN’s Richard Colbran joins members of the Regional Health Ministerial Advisory Panel to visit UCRH
18th June 2024
The NSW Regional Health Ministerial Advisory Panel, led by Chair and RDN CEO, Richard Colbran, met with UCRH staff and UCRH Director and Head of Rural Clinical School Professor Vicki Flood recently as part of a visit to Lismore by the Panel.
The Panel was announced in October 2023 to strengthen community engagement and foster genuine co-design principles in the development of healthcare in regional NSW.
The visit provided the Panel with an opportunity to gain further insight and ideas regarding the issues facing regional NSW and to bring together perspectives about what needs to be done to ensure regional communities have access to high quality health services.
UCRH representatives gave the Panel members an overview of UCRH’s medical and allied health education programs; a rundown on the work done in the Simulation Centre and through its collaboration with the Northern NSW Local Health District to operate the Northern NSW Regional Training Hub; and provided insight into the streams and projects covered through our research work.
The UCRH group described the discussions as far-reaching and said they appreciated “the obvious and genuine interest of the Panel members”.
“We were pleased to have this opportunity to convey the work we do, and to provide our thoughts on some of the pressing challenges facing rural health practitioners and services. We look forward to continuing these conversations in future meetings.”
