First of two Obstetrics Procedural Conferences held in Sydney
20th May 2024
The first of two Obstetrics Procedural Conferences tailored specifically for rural GP Obstetricians and GPs with advanced skills in obstetrics took place last week. Funded by NSW Health, the Conference was held at RDN's St Leonard's office, with simulations at the Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital, the Conference offered a blend of theory and hands-on learning accredited for CPD and PDP and was eligible for the Obstetrics Procedural Grant and HWSP where available.
As part of the Conference, RDN introduced immersive simulations focusing on obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation for practical experience doctors can immediately apply. A variety of learning opportunities and relevant topics were covered including tricky deliveries, neonatal care, gestational diabetes, genetic screening, pre-eclampsia, hypertension, mental health, and medico-legal matters.
With small group sizes, the two-day conference was warmly received as an invaluable opportunity to learn and grow alongside fellow practitioners in an interactive and supportive environment.
