Two regional NSW locations chosen to participate in national healthcare trial

12th February 2024

Glen Innes Health Hub in regional NSW and Grand Pacific Health in Cooma and Batemans Bay have been announced as two of the six projects chosen nationally to participate in the Innovative Models of Care Program which trials new ways of delivering multidisciplinary primary care in rural and remote communities.

The IMOC Program started in 2020-21 with funding to Rural Doctors Network for the trial of five innovative care models in NSW and aims to attract and keep rural health professionals.

By trialling new multidisciplinary primary care models, the Program is designed to reduce chronic workforce shortages and improve patient access, incorporate learnings into new trials and evaluate trials to discover which models work.

Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health, Emma McBride said “…we understand the unique challenges facing rural and regional communities when it comes to accessing health care.

“The trials are tailor made for underserviced communities in Queensland, NSW and Victoria to boost the local health workforce and improve health outcomes now and in the future.”
