Health Interpreter Ep 5: Local Govt on the front line of health access

25th September 2023

“More doctors than police” is how the Mayor of Gunnedah, and NSW Country Mayors Association Chairman, Jamie Chaffey, recently described his community's current situation for health access.

However, this was not always the case. In the latest episode of RDN’s Health Interpreter podcast series, host Jeremy Mitchell chats with Mr Chaffey about how his Council turned their situation around and why the NSW Country Mayors Association is becoming more active in health policy.

What can local government do without direct funding to deliver health services? What role do they play in helping their local communities get long-term health access? Find out the answers to these questions, and more, by listening to Episode 5 ‘Local Government, the front line for health access for communities’ on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or at RDN's Community Solutions Hub.
