RDN Champions Health Access in Canberra Meetings
18th September 2023
As part of NSW Rural Doctors Network's (RDN) efforts to enhance healthcare access in rural Australia, RDN CEO Richard Colbran and Director of Engagement Jeremy Mitchell visited Canberra last week. This visit was prompted by a request from various Members of Parliament (MPs) eager to delve deeper into Outreach and other health access issues in their respective electorates.
During their visit, Mr. Colbran and Mr. Mitchell had productive meetings with parliamentarians, including Mr. Pat Conaghan MP, Mr. Mark Coulton MP, and Mr. Julian Leeser MP. These discussions served as a platform to shed light on the pressing healthcare challenges faced by rural communities, focusing on innovative solutions that can bring about positive change.
While in the nation's capital, they also took the opportunity to meet with the CEO of Indigenous Allied Health Australia. Additionally, discussions were held with representatives from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to explore their policy initiatives concerning health businesses, particularly bolstering small enterprises in rural areas.
This strategic outreach underscores RDN's commitment to championing healthcare access for rural residents and fostering meaningful collaborations with key stakeholders.
