Health Interpreter Podcast Ep. 4: Single Employer Model - what is it and what will it mean for health access?

In recent months, the NSW Government’s proposal to expand the Single Employer Model was approved by the Commonwealth Government and will now be rolled out in many rural and regional locations.The Single Employer Model is sometimes referred to as the ‘Murrumbidgee Model’ and provides a tailored, coordinated pathway for doctors wanting to become rural generalists during their training in public health facilities and private GP practices.
In the latest episode of RDN’s Health Interpreter podcast, host Jeremy Mitchell speaks to the Director of Primary Care at the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Dr Alam Yoosuff. Dr Yoosuff was instrumental in bringing together, and implementing, the Model and discusses how the Model works, why it’s being introduced and how it will improve and impact access to health in NSW.
