About the webinar

This webinar is presented by Hearing Australia and is designed for Aboriginal Health Workers or primary health practitioners who would like to increase their understanding of recognising middle ear conditions using otoscopy and tympanometry.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

• Recognising normal and abnormal signs of a middle ear.
• What tympanometry assesses, why and how to use a tympanometer (review of the previous webinar).
• Interpreting results using the Otitis Media Guidelines.
• Cholesteotoma formation and how to identify a cholesteotoma in adults and children.
• Q&A.

Speaker: Candice Watkins

Candice Watkins is a Clinical Audiologist who has extensive experience in providing rehabilitation and diagnostic clinical audiology services in rural, urban and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She has been a clinician at Hearing Australia for ten years with a focus on providing amplification and rehabilitative audiology support to children and adults. Candice drove the development of Hearing Australia's 'Hear For School' Program, which is an educational and professional development program, aimed at supporting schools in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure all students hear as well as possible. She is currently in charge of coordinating Hearing Australia's Tele-FUP program, which is a centralised video telehealth follow up service, for remote and regional Outreach clients.
