Pathways to Fellowship

There are various pathways to being recognised as a General Practitioner in Australia. The endpoint of any of the pathways is either:

  • Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

It is important to be aware that each of the GP Training programs have their specific eligibility criteria.  Applicants need to review their individual eligibility for each GP Training Program.

Use the links below to access the most up to date information from each of the Colleges about the various pathways to Fellowship.

Junior Doctors (post PGY1), might also consider the NSW Rural Generalist Medical Training Program. This program provides a supported pathway for junior doctors to pursue a career as a rural GP with an advanced skill that can be used in a rural location. Learn more
