Natural Disaster and Emergency Learnings and Recommendations Report

Natural Disaster and emergency report coverBuilding resilience and mitigating risk in our rural communities calls for long-term risk management, planning and deploying solutions based on our collective experience, emerging science and technology, and latest research. Throughout 2020, leaders from the NSW health sector have been coming together to debrief, exchange ideas and work on a common approach. The 2021 Natural Disaster and Emergency Learnings and Recommendations Report (The NDER Report) is the result of these efforts, focusing on the critical role of primary health care.

We thank the agencies involved in the Rural NSW Natural Disaster and Emergency General Practice and Primary Health Partnership Group (the NDE Group) and the Rural NSW General Practice and PHC Natural Disaster and Emergency Committee (the NDE Committee) for their efforts in supporting rural NSW through the disruptions of the 2019-2020 natural disasters and emergencies. We also commend the NDE Group’s 2021 Natural Disaster and Emergency Learnings and Recommendations Report to you as a useful guide in the pursuit of greater resilience and more informed emergency management responses.
