Award category spotlight: Outstanding Contribution to Rural/Remote Health Access

This week, Rural Doctors Network is shining a spotlight on the National Rural and Remote Health Awards’ newest category for 2025: Outstanding Contribution to Rural/Remote Health Access.
The Outstanding Contribution to Rural/Remote Health Access Award recognises a team or organisation that has shown exceptional dedication to improving health access in rural and remote areas.
It celebrates those who advocate for change and take meaningful action to ensure communities receive sustainable, high-quality, culturally safe and responsive healthcare.
Mandatory Criteria
- Nominees must be a team or an organisation.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness (see following).
- In areas designated between MM3-7 of the Modified Monash Model classification system.
All rural, remote and regional communities now have the opportunity to showcase this work and the #ruralpositive stories that can be found in rural and remote health by nominating today.

Presentation of the Awards will take place on Ngunnawal country at the National Press Club of Australia, in Canberra, on Wednesday 5 November, 2025.
Amongst those attending to honour finalists and nominees will be the Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, and the National Rural Health Commissioner Professor, Jenny May AM, along with other VIPs and representatives of the rural and remote health community from around Australia.
