As an active supporter of the rural health community, Her Excellency was kept up-to-date with the latest rural health initiatives, ongoing challenges rural health faces and RDN’s efforts to address these.

Her Excellency was interested to hear Professor O’Mara’s perspective as a rural community General Practitioner and as the first Aboriginal Australian to chair RDN.

Richard Colbran said he was grateful for the genuine support of Her Excellency as RDN’s Patron and the opportunity to further keep her abreast of health matters on behalf of rural, regional and remote communities.

“We were honoured to meet with Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley last week and we are very grateful for the genuine interest she has in rural health and her support of RDN’s efforts to ensure health professionals are supported to thrive in rural and remote areas of NSW,” Mr Colbran said.

“RDN’s purpose is to enable the best health outcomes for all — no matter where they live. To have Her Excellency support RDN’s commitment to building the capability of the rural health workforce, is something we don’t take for granted and will only serve to positively impact RDN’s vision for equity of access to health and social care services for all."
