Advanced Life Support 1 Training
2nd December 2024
Five accredited Advanced Life Support (ALS) upskilling workshops were held to coincide with the Rural Health Month conferences ahead of the Rural GPs Conference at Manly last week. The workshop is designed to enhance skills, knowledge, and confidence in managing medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest. The course meets the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) standards for Advanced Life Support Level 1 and was accredited for CPD and PDP with RACGP and ACRRM, and recognised by the ARC, resulting in an ALS Certificate valid for 4 years, an ARC-issued ALS Provider Wallet Card, and Basic Life Support certification.
"By bringing advanced life support training directly to our rural practitioners during Rural Health Month, we're ensuring our medical professionals are equipped with the latest emergency response skills," said RDN Education Services Manager Arna Wotherspoon. "What stands out consistently in participant feedback is how the simulation exercises allow practitioners to experience every role within an emergency response team – from team leader to first responder. This hands-on approach to understanding team dynamics is invaluable, and the enthusiasm we've witnessed from participants confirms the vital role these workshops play in strengthening emergency care capabilities across our rural communities."
