Advanced Life Support 1
You're invited to attend RDN's Advanced Life Support 1 workshop which will be held at Rydges Port Macquarie on Friday 28 March.
This workshop will enhance your skills, knowledge, and confidence in managing medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest. You will learn to recognise, assess, and immediately manage deteriorating patients.
The course meets the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) standards for Advanced Life Support Level 1 and covers:
- Recognition, assessment, and management of critically ill patients using a structured ABCDE approach to prevent cardiac arrest
- Airway management skills
- Basic Life Support
- Defibrillation skills (manual and/or AED modes)
- Cardiac arrest management using the ARC ALS algorithm
- Effective teamwork in a cardiac arrest scenario
No formal prerequisites are required; however, participants should be proficient in CPR and review the provided manual in advance.
The workshop is accredited for CPD and PDP with RACGP and ACRRM, and recognised by the ARC. You will receive an ALS Certificate valid for 4 years, an ARC-issued ALS Provider Wallet Card, and Basic Life Support certification.
This workshop is followed by RDN and RDA NSW's Rural GPs Refresher Conference. Consider attending both to make the most of your time away. There will be a link to register when you complete your registration.
Please note, you may be eligible to apply for funds to support the costs of conference/workshop registration, travel and accommodation expenses through the Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP).
