Attending the Rural GPs Refresher Conference? Make the most of your time away by adding a pre-conference ALS 1 course. The course focuses on developing skills, knowledge and confidence in managing medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest, and meets the standards for Advanced Life Support Level 1 as defined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It includes:
Recognition, assessment and management of the critically ill patient using a structured ABCDE approach (aiming to prevent cardiac arrest)
Airway management skills
Basic Life Support
Defibrillation skills (Manual and/or AED modes)
Cardiac arrest management using the ARC ALS Algorithm
Work as an effective team member in a cardiac arrest
