Funded by rural Shires of country NSW and the NSW Country Women's Association, applications are open to medical students interested in rural medicine. To be eligible to apply, students must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of Australia and be enrolled in their second year medical degree at the University of Sydney, Wollongong, Notre Dame or the Australian National University or third year of study at the University of Newcastle, New England, NSW or Western Sydney. Students must demonstrate an understanding of the realities of rural medical practice - both positive and negative - display a commitment to and interest in rural practice and lifestyle, and be motivated to undertake placements in rural areas as part of the Bush Bursary/CWA Scholarship. NB: Bush Bursary recipients are unable to simultaneously hold a John Flynn Scholarship.
