General Practitioners, Doctors & Locums

Rural Doctors Network (RDN) offers free end-to-end recruitment support for rural medical practices in remote, rural and regional locations and for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) throughout New South Wales. We offer tailored support, advice and knowledge on career pathways to health professionals and practice support staff.

General Practitioners

RDN plays a critical role in facilitating access to quality medical services by:

  • Facilitating GP recruitment and retention through a range of services to general practices, doctors and employers.
  • Supporting rural medical families.
  • Being a reliable source of information on all rural medical workforce issues for New South Wales.

Services to general practices and doctors include, for example, support for securing employment, providing access to financial grants for rural relocation and education and providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.

RDN supports employers and practices to recruit and retain suitable placements through its recruitment support service, free online job advertising (MMM 2-7 practices only, including all ACCHS), resource and reference materials e.g. for succession planning, and free advice when required.

Locums

RDN recognises the importance of medical practitioner locum services to support rural general practices and provides a range of services to facilitate this.
