Recruiting, retaining and supporting General Practitioners (GPs), Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in rural New South Wales, Australia

General Practice & Doctors

NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) plays a critical role in facilitating access to quality medical services for remote, rural and regional New South Wales communities by:

  • Facilitating GP recruitment and retention through a range of services to GPs, doctors and employers.
  • Supporting rural medical families through the Rural Medical Family Network.
  • Being a reliable source of information on all rural medical workforce issues for New South Wales.

Services to GPs and doctors include, for example, support for securing employment, providing access to financial grants for rural relocation and education, providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, and providing ongoing support for their families through Rural Medical Family Network activities.

RDN supports employers and practices to recruit and retain suitable placements through its recruitment support service, free online job advertising (RA2-5 practices only), resource and reference materials e.g. for succession planning, and free advice when required.
