Recruiting, retaining and supporting General Practitioners (GPs) in rural New South Wales, Australia.

NSW Divisions of General Practice

The Divisions of General Practice are federally funded, autonomous grass-roots local administrative networks of GPs. About 95% of GPs in Australia are members of a local Division of General Practice. The Divisions enable GPs to play a strong participatory role in the health system by working together to address both their own professional needs and the health needs of their patients and communities.

There are 17 rural Divisions of General Practice and three rural border (Victorian border) Divisions in NSW. These 20 Divisions cover all geographic areas of the state outside the metropolitan areas of Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Newcastle, and work closely with the NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN).

For more information on Divisions please go to GP NSW or visit the website of individual Divisions in rural NSW via the links below. Use the map to locate the geographic area of each Division.
