RDN Locum ServiceThe NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) attracts, recruits, manages and develops initiatives for locums in rural New South Wales. The supply of quality locums is seen as a significant factor in improving GP retention in the bush. The RDN Locum Service assists resident rural GPs to take short-term leave by organising, where possible, RDN-employed GP locums to relieve them. Priority is given to GPs in remote areas and/or towns with three or fewer GPs usually in (RRMA 4-7) locations. GP practices submit a Locum Request which is placed on a wait list. When a request is made, a Locum Coordinator will contact you. If a locum can be supplied, then the Practice enters into a contract with RDN. Although the cost of an RDN locum is subsidised, the Practice is required to pay RDN a scheduled weekly fee-for-service and, where applicable, a percentage of actual out-of-hours VMO work and any related on-call allowances. Practices are required to provide suitable accommodation for the RDN locums. Please view the RDN Locum Accommodation Policy. RDN locums may not always be available. We encourage Independent Locum Doctors (ILDs) to be listed on our website for your further information.
